John Wauchope is the Development Manager at Mercer & Cooper, overseeing the successful delivery of the group’s development pipeline from concept, through feasibility studies, and into completion. With more than a decade of experience across the construction and property sectors, John brings a rare blend of technical knowledge and practical site expertise, shaped by senior roles within both building company and client-side environments.

John holds a Master of Engineering and a Bachelor of Business, and his career spans a diverse range of positions including General Manager, Project Manager, Operations Manager, Estimator, and Contracts Administrator. This hands-on background enables him to lead with a deep understanding of design development, construction methodology, cost planning, and stakeholder management.

Prior to joining Mercer & Cooper, John led the operational delivery of complex residential and commercial projects, where he built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality outcomes while managing risk, program, and stakeholder expectations. He is known for his structured, detail-oriented approach and his ability to lead teams and consultants toward aligned project outcomes.

John is passionate about improving industry practices, building long-term value in every project, and ensuring clients’ visions are brought to life with integrity and precision. Outside of work, he volunteers with his former football club, enjoys keeping active, and values quality time with friends and family.
